MOBILE, Ala. – Washington and Lee women's tennis players Lauren Lukas (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and Trelsie Sadler (Wakefield, R.I./Groton School) fell in the quarterfinal round of the women's Division III doubles bracket at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Championships, held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center, on Thursday afternoon.
The No. 4 overall seed, Lukas and Sadler fell to sophomores Karisse Bendijo and Allison Tierney from The College of New Jersey, 6-2, 6-4, to open tournament play.
Lukas and Sadler will return to competition tomorrow in the fifth-place bracket, facing the tandem of senior Elise Otto and sophomore Alyssa Roberg from Whitman College at 2:00 pm. Otto and Roberg fell to No. 1 seed Kendra Higgins and Chrissy Hu from the University of Chicago, 6-2, 6-2, in their first match of the tournament.
