Three Generals Selected to NCAA Individual Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced its men’s and women’s fields for the NCAA Division III singles and doubles championships and Washington and Lee had three athletes selected to participate.

For the women, senior Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) and sophomore Ellen Yeatman (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) were among the 32 individuals selected to participate in the singles competition.  The duo were also among the 16 teams that were picked to play for the doubles championship.

Caire has logged a 6-5 singles record, while Yeatman has notched a 12-4 record in singles.  Together, they are 7-3 overall in doubles entering this weekend's team tournament.  Caire reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship in singles and doubles during her sophomore season and she is a three-time All-American.  Yeatman will be making her second appearance in the singles championship after falling in the first round last spring.

For the men, first-year Hayden White (Baltimore, Md./Towson) was tabbed to compete for the championship in the 32-man singles field.  He carries a 23-8 record into this weekend’s match against The College of New Jersey in the team competition.  White finished fourth in singles at the ITA Small College Championship during the fall season.

The NCAA singles and doubles championships will be held on May 28-30.  The women’s championship will take place at the University of Mary Washington, while Oberlin College will host the men’s competition.
