W&L's Yeatman Named ITA National Player to Watch
SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association
(ITA) announced its Division III national award winners on Friday
and sophomore Ellen Yeatman (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central)
was named the ITA National Player to Watch.
Yeatman has notched a 13-4 record in singles and has gone 14-5 in
doubles this season. She has also been selected to participate in
the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships this weekend, facing
Amherst’s Brittany Berkes in first round action, while
pairing with senior Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) to
take on Tufts’ Julia Browne and Meghan McCooey in first-round
doubles play.
Earlier this season, Yeatman was named the ITA Atlantic South
Region Player to Watch while also earning First-Team All-ODAC
honors for the second time in her career in both singles and
doubles. The 2009 ODAC Rookie of the Year, she is currently ranked
eighth in singles in the Atlantic South and second in doubles while
teaming with Caire.
As a team, the Generals finished the 2010 season with a 19-7
overall record and a 10-0 mark in the ODAC. W&L won the
conference title and advanced to the third round of the NCAA
Tournament before falling to Emory University.
