W&L's Tabb Named CoSIDA Academic All-American
TOWSON, Md. -- Washington and Lee women’s senior
women’s tennis player Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina)
has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division
Academic All-America At-Large squad as a third team selection.
Tabb is just the fourth W&L women’s tennis player to be
honored and the first since Katie Kingsbury (first team) and Ginny
Wortham (third team) in 2007.
The 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Tabb was a
two-time ODAC Player of the Year honoree, an eight-time First Team
All-ODAC selection, and a six-time All-American, as well as the
2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Atlantic
South Region Rookie of the year and the 2009 ITA Atlantic South
Senior Player of the Year.
Tabb concluded the 2009 season with a 17-7 singles mark and an
appearance in the second round of the NCAA Championships. She also
posted a 21-8 doubles ledger and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals
for the second-straight year. Her 89 singles wins are good for
sixth all-time at W&L, while her 108 doubles wins are tied for
the most in school history.
Tabb’s selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America squad
brings W&L's all-time total to 49 student-athletes honored
since 1975. The CoSIDA College Division consists of
student-athletes from all NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools
across the United States.
