W&L Women's Swimming Continues Competition at NCAAs

SHENANDOAH, Texas – Members of the Washington and Lee women's swimming team continued to set records at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas on Friday.

Senior Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton), junior Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo), sophomore Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School), and first-year Kelly Amar (Mount Vernon, N.Y. / The Ursuline School) finished 10th and set a new W&L record in the 800 free relay after clocking in at 7:31.15. The quartet earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades.

Senior Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) earned First Team All-America honors after placing fifth in the 100 back with a time of 55.53.

In the 200 fly, first-year Laura Bruce (New Orleans, La. / Academy of the Sacred Heart) placed 19th with a time of 2:05.31, while Amar finished 30th in a time of 2:06.83 in the prelims this morning.

First-year Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W. Va. / George Washington) competed in the prelims of the 100 breast. She placed 30th overall with a time of 1:05.12, which did not qualify for the finals round.

The Blue and White is currently in seventh-place in the team standings with 94 points. Emory is in the top spot with 471.5 markers.

The Generals will continue action on Saturday morning with the prelims for a number of different events. W&L will have swimmers competing in the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast and 400 free relay.
