LANCASTER, Pa. – First-year Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W.Va. / George Washington) posted NCAA "B" cut times and set new ODAC and school records in the 400-yard IM (4:31.00) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.96) for the Washington and Lee women's swim team on Saturday at day two of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
W&L is currently in first place out of 12 teams with 993 points. Delaware (988) and Mount Saint Mary's (629) round out the Top 3.
Hageboeck set the record for the 200-yard breast during the preliminaries, while winning the 400-yard IM in the finals. First-year Kelly Amar (Mount Vernon, N.Y. / The Ursuline School) placed third in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:32.04, which was also an NCAA "B" cut, while first-year Taylor Ecleberry (Goshen, Ky. / Sacred Heart Academy) finished fourth in 4:38.36.
First-year Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary's Episcopal) took the top spot in the 100-yard fly (55.75), which was an NCAA "B" cut time and a new school and ODAC record. Senior Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) took first in the 100-yard back and posted a NCAA "B" cut time with a time of 55.78.
Senior Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) had a top place showing in the 200-yard free (1:53.74) and sophomore Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School) took fifth with a time of 1:55.64.
Amar and Holmes were joined by junior Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and first-year Katherine Degner (Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox) on the 800-yard free relay squad that took second after touching the wall in 7:43.03.
W&L returns to the pool on Sunday for the final day of the competition at the F&M Invitational. Action is set to begin at 9:00 am.
