BALTIMORE, Md. – Washington and Lee first-year swimmer Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) has been named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending October 20.
Holmes won three individual events and participated on one winning relay team in a 139-123 loss to Mary Washington on Friday evening, then swam as a member of three winning relays and two second-place relays as the Generals claimed the ODAC Relays Championship on Saturday at the Cy Twombly Pool.
Against UMW, Holmes won the 200 free with a time of 1:57.06, claimed the 500 free with a time of 5:12.52 and posted a time of 10:38.79 in winning the 1,000 free. She also anchored the winning 400 free relay team with a 53.94 split.
In the ODAC Relays, she participated on the winning 500 free relay (4:49.96), the winning 300 IM Relay (3:10.40) and the winning 8x25 relay (1:38.49), while also swimming with the second-place finishing 200 free (1:44.00) and 400 free relay (3:42.81) teams.
Washington and Lee returns to the pool on Saturday when it travels to Randolph-Macon for a 2:00 pm contest.
