Women's Swimming Takes First Place at F&M Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee women's swim team earned 1024 points en route to a first place finish at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday.

F&M finished in second place with 765 points, while Kutztown placed third with 522 pints. Ramapo (521) and Widener (481) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) started the meet strong for the Generals, earning a first place finish in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:04.55.

First-year Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) returned to the pool and picked up a second place finish in the 200 back in a time of 2:11.23, while Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) finished fourth (2:12.86).

Senior Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md. / Saint Paul's) earned another top finish for the Blue and White, touching the wall first in the 200 fly in a time of 2:11.65. Sophomore Emma Swabb (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) also placed high in her event, taking second place in the 200 IM (2:13.78), while Rollo earned third place (2:15.64).

The women ended the meet on the right note when Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C. / Athens Drive), Natalie Bendsel (Oakton, Va. / Flint Hill), Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South) and Holmes teamed up to take first place in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:36.01.

The Generals will be back in action on January 11 when they travel to Bridgewater for a 6:00 pm meet.
