CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee women's swim team picked up 564 points en route to a third place finish at the Wingate Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The women started out the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay, when Stephanie Foster (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach), Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South), Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio / Elyria Catholic), and Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C. / Athens Drive) teamed up to touch the wall in a time of 1:52.79.
Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) continued to her success by placing second in the 1000 free, clocking in at 10:38.98. She also finished second in the 200 free in a time of 1:56.52.
In the 50 free, Hardy took home an eighth place finish (25.54), while Natalie Brendsel (Oakton, Va. / Flint Hill) placed 10th (25.67). Foster also picked up another Top 10 finish, touching the wall in 1:02.18 for 10th place in the 100 back.
Other Generals' time include a 10th palce finish by Hannah Melkun (Fredericksburg, Va. / Stafford) in the 200 breast (2:37.85), Hamp placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:00.72) and Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md. / Saint Paul's) finished seventh place in the 400 IM (4:50.46).
The Generals ended the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free relay. Holmes, Hardy, Brendsel and Rebecca Lawrence (Wayne, Pa. / Conestoga) teamed up to touch the wall in 3:41.50.
The Blue and White will be back in action on November 8th when they host Sweet Briar. Action is set to start at 6:00 pm.
