LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team flew past its competition and led nine teams with 448.5 points at the ODAC Relays at Cy Twombly Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Emory & Henry was runner-up to W&L, tallying 285 points on the day. Randolph-Macon (232), Bridgewater (196), Greensboro (120.5), Sweet Briar (98), Hollins (80), Guilford (26) and Notre Dame of Maryland (23) rounded out the results.
The Generals picked up five first-place finishes on the day, starting with the trio of senior Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md./Saint Paul's), sophomore Stephanie Foster (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) and first-year Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) who teamed up in the 150 backstroke relay to post a first-place time of 1:24.92.
Seniors Rebecca Lawrence (Wayne, Pa. / Conestoga) and Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C. / Athens Drive) along with first-years Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) and Natalie Brendsel (Oakton, Va. / Flint Hill) each swam a leg in the 500 freestyle relay, clocking in at 4:49.96 for first place.
Kasoff, Foster, Rollo and junior Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) captured a win in the 100 dolphin kick relay (56.18), while Rollo, Holmes and Kasoff were first in the 300 IM relay (3:10.40). Wrapping up the first-place performances for W&L were Hardy, Brendsel, Holmes and Lawrence in the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.42).
W&L returns to the pool on October 26, when it travels Randolph-Macon, set to begin at 2:00 pm.
