W&L's Elisabeth Holmes Named ODAC Swimmer of the Week
LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee first-year swimmer Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) was named ODAC Swimmer of the Week for the week ending October 13, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Holmes helped the Generals open their 2013-14 season with a 161-101 victory over Centre on Saturday after picking up three individuals wins on the day. Holmes finished in the top spot in the 200 free (1:58.54), 500 free (5:16.83) and the 200 IM (2:14.44).
She also teamed up with senior Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive), sophomore Sarah Schaffer (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and first-year Natalie Brendsel (Oakton, Va./Flint Hill) in the 400 free relay that finished second in a time of 3:41.72.
The Generals return to the pool when they host the ODAC relays meet on Saturday. Action is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
