W&L Women's Swimming Earns First-Ever Top 25 Ranking

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team has earned its first-ever Top 25 ranking from the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as the coaches poll committee released its first dual meet poll of the 2011-12 season recently.

W&L, which sits at 6-2, currently resides in 22nd place in the CSCAA's inaugural poll of the year and the Generals are the sole ODAC school to be represented. Both of the Generals' losses in dual meets this season have come to teams ranked in the Top 25 as W&L fell to No. 16 Carnegie Mellon and No. 25 Rochester.

Emory currently holds the top spot in the poll, with Denison, Kenyon, Johns Hopkins, Williams, Amherst, MIT, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, University of Chicago and Stevens Institute of Technology rounding out the Top 10.

W&L takes part in its final meet of the semester when it participates in the two-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational beginning on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
