ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team won seven individual events and both relay races in posting a 162-101 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday in Ashland.
W&L improved to 4-0 on the season with the win. Sophomore Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md./Saint Paul's) led the way with a pair of individual event wins, taking the 200 fly (2:15.89) and the 200 IM (2:16.89).
Senior Jocelyn Cassada (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) won the 100 back (1:01.58) and was second in the 100 free (54.99), and swam the lead leg for the winning 200 medley relay (1:53.88) and 400 free relay (3:43.11) teams. She was joined on the 200 medley relay by senior Dana Fredericks (Yorktown, Va./York), first-year Caroline Hamp (Avon Lake, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and junior Izzy Brassfield (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School). Sophomore Meredith Hardy (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive), Brassfield and junior Delaney Rolfe (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) joined Cassada on the 400 free relay squad.
Rolfe added a first-place finish in the 500 free (5:28.82), while Hamp touched first in the 100 fly (1:02.69). Senior Katie Salvati (Roselle Park, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) finished first in the 200 back (2:14.46) and was second in the 200 back (1:02.83), and senior Elizabeth Starnes (Harrison, Tenn./Girls Prep) took first in the 1000 free (11:11.58) and was second in the 500 free (5:29.11).
Fredericks added a pair of second-place finishes to her first-place relay swims, timing 1:11.08 in the 100 breast and 2:36.58 in the 200 breast.
Washington and Lee will return to action on Friday as it hosts Sweet Briar for a 6:00 pm dual meet.
