FOREST, Va. -- Three Washington and Lee athletes were named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Players of the Week in their respective sports on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Marissa Thompson (Chatham, Va./Chatham) and first-year Cole Glasgow (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) earned awards in track & field and junior Jocelyn Cassada (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) was honored in women's swimming.
Cassada swam in four events in W&L's 151-105 win over Gettysburg on Saturday. She claimed wins in three events. She finished tops in the 100 back (1:01.87) and 200 back (2:16.79) and helped the 200 medley relay squad to a first-place finish (1:54.82).
Glasgow helped lead the men's track & field team to a 76.5-42.5 win over Roanoke on Saturday with a pair of individual event wins. He took first in the long jump with a distance of 6.13m and he won the 55m dash with a time of 6.71.
The W&L women's track & field team tied Roanoke, 67-67, on Saturday and Thompson had a hand in three event wins for the Generals. She captured the 55m dash (7.59), the long jump (5.01m) and was a member of the winning 4x400m relay team that won with a time of 4:34.08.
The track & field team resumes competition on Jan. 29 at the Liberty Open & Multi's, while the women's swim team hosts Marymount and Catholic on Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm.
