FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for December 6 and Washington and Lee had a pair of athletes honored.
Junior Katie Salvati (Roselle Park, N.J./Mount Saint Mary) earned the weekly award for swimming, while first-year Zander Tallman (Grand Blanc, Mich./Cranbrook-Kingwood) was honored as the men's track and field athlete of the week.
Salvati swam in five events during the three-day The College of New Jersey Invitational over the weekend. She recorded second-place finishes in the 400 IM (4:47.16) and 200 back (2:11.82), while taking seventh in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.32. She was also a part of two relays, helping the 200 medley relay to a third-place finish (1:53.62) and the 400 medley relay to a fourth-place finish (4:10.61).The Generals are currently 5-2 on the season, finishing third out of six teams at The College of New Jersey Invitational over the weekend.
Tallman won the 400m at the Marietta First Glimpse Invitational on Saturday with a school-record time of 49.96. He was also a part of the 4x400m relay team that took first place (3:31.67).
Both squads will now break for finals and the holidays, returning to action on January 15. Swimming will host Gettysburg at Cy Twombly Pool, while the track and field team will face Roanoke College in a dual meet.
