W&L Women's Swimming Finishes Tops at ODAC Relay Meet

LEXINGTON, VA. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team captured six event victories en route to collecting 360 points as they captured the ODAC Relays on Saturday afternoon at Cy Twombly Pool.

W&L (0-1) finished the conference relay event with 360 points, and was followed by Randolph-Macon (267), Sweet Briar (227), Bridgewater (207), Hollins (157), Guilford (121) and Emory & Henry (72).

Pacing the Generals was first-year Lauren Kasoff (Owings Mills, Md./Saint Paul's), who was a member of three top-finishing relays. Juniors Katie Salvati (Roselle Park, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) and Dana Fredericks (Yorktown, Va./York), sophomore Brittany Ross (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and first-year Rebecca Lawrence (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) also helped W&L, as each swimmer was a member of two winning relays.

Kasoff swam on the winning 3x50 free relay (1:25.56), 100 dolphin kick relay (57.54) and 3x100 medley relay (3:16.32). She was joined on the 3x50 free relay by Ross and Lawrence, and swam the 100 dolphin kick relay with Fredericks, Ross and sophomore Stephanie Krasnov (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill). Her final relay was the 3x100 medley, where she partnered with Fredericks and Salvati to take the top spot.

Ross swam to victories on the 3x50 free relay and 100 dolphin kick relay. Lawrence was also a member of the 3x50 free relay while helping the 500 free relay of sophomores Izzy Brassfield (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School) and Delaney Rolfe (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and junior Elizabeth Starnes (Harrison, Tenn./Girls Prep) to a top finish in a time of 4:58.42.

Salvati joined Fredericks and Kasoff on the winning 3x100 medley relay, and swam the anchor leg on the 3x50 back relay, which swam to a first-place finish with a time of 1:28.47. She was joined on the back relay by senior Tess Hayden (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and junior Joanie Hudak (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet). Rounding out the top finishers for W&L was Fredericks, who swam on the 100 dolphin kick and 3x100 medley relays.

The final winning relay for the Generals was the 8x25 free, which recorded a time of 1:39.40. W&L also claimed four second-place finishes in the 3x50 breast (1:42.22), 400 free (3:47.79), 200 medley (1:56.93) and 200 free (1:43.77) relays.

The Generals return to action on Friday as they travel to Transylvania for a 6:00 pm meet.
