LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior midfielder Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del. / Caesar Rodney) and sophomore midfielder Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Sophomore defender Hollis Tardy (Dallas, Texas / The Hockaday School) started the scoring off for the Generals when she tallied a goal with 8:52 left in the first half off an assist from Rossi. W&L took the 1-0 lead into intermission.
Rossi then scored in the 62nd minute off of an assist from senior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va. / Norfolk Academy). Junior midfielder Erin Harvey (Mission Hills, Kan. / Pembroke Hill) netted the third goal for the Blue and White just 5:34 later off of an assist from Jessee.
Jessee tallied the final goal of the game when she corralled a deflected shot and beat sophomore goalkeeper Megan Gerhart (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) at the 77:27 mark.
The Generals (9-0-1, 7-0) out-shot the Marlins (8-5-2, 6-2), 15-6, and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior keeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) saw all 90 minutes of action in goal and recorded four saves for her eighth consecutive shutout. Gerhart also played the entire match in net and totaled three saves.
W&L returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Hollins for a 4:00 pm contest.
