W&L Women's Soccer Knocks Off Roanoke, 1-0

SALEM, Va. – Sophomore forward Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) scored in just the third minute to lead the Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Roanoke College on Wednesday evening at Kerr Stadium.

Jessee netted the only goal of the game at the 2:39 mark with a header off of a corner kick taken by first-year forward Chandler Wickers (Portola Valley, Calif. / Menlo School).

W&L (4-0-1, 2-0) held a 14-2 advantage in shots, allowing just one shot on goal.  The Generals also took eight corner kicks as opposed to zero taken for the Maroons (4-3-0, 0-1).

Junior goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) played all 90 minutes and made one save to preserve her third shutout so far this season. Senior keeper Carolyn Sarbacher also saw all 90 minutes of action for Roanoke, totaling six saves.

W&L returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Guilford for a 12:00 pm contest.
