LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team scored six second-half goals on its way to a 7-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon in its first conference game of the season at Watt Field.
First-year midfielder Kelsey Jervis (Charlotte, N.C. / Myers Park) started things off for the Generals (3-0-1, 1-0-0) when she scored off an assist from senior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va. / Norfolk Academy) in the 37th minute. W&L took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
W&L didn't waste much time adding to its advantage in the second half as sophomore defender Hollis Tardy (Dallas, Texas / The Hockaday School) netted an unassisted goal just 21 seconds into play for a 2-0 lead. The Generals then scored four more goals within 10 minutes of one another to stretch the margin to 6-0.
Junior forward Becca Dunn (Houston, Texas / Memorial) tallied the final goal for the Blue and White off of a corner kick by senior forward Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash. / Federal Way) with two minutes left in the game.
Junior goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) saw all 90 minutes of action in the net and recorded her second clean sheet of the season. Keeper Becca Borg took the loss, while totaling six saves.
The Generals out-shot the Royals (2-3-1, 0-1-0), 22-0, and held an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
