NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2013 College Division All-State Women's Soccer teams and Washington and Lee had three players recognized.
Junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va. / Norfolk Academy) and sophomore goalkeeper Addie Healy garnered first team honors, while first-year Ashley Hogan (North Chesterfield, Va. / Monacan) earned first team accolades and was named the VaSID Co-Rookie of the Year along with CNU defender Sam Rabinek.
A team captain, Beasley saw action in 21 games with 20 starts this season. She registered a team-leading 23 points on eight goals and seven assists and finished fourth in the conference in assists. Beasley was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District squad, First Team All-ODAC and was selected First Team All-Region earlier this season.
Healy recieved her first all-state selection after playing in 18 games and starting 17 this season. She recorded 51 saves with eight goals allowed for a 0.48 goals-against average, which is good for third in W&L's record book for season goals-against average. She also claimed an 0.864 save-percentage. After her two seasons as a General, she ranks second in career goals-against average (0.59) and sixth in career shutouts (14). She was also named First Team All-ODAC earlier this season.
Hogan was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year and earned First Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-Region honors, starting 18 games for the Generals. She anchored a back line that allowed just nine total goals on the season for a league-leading 0.42 goals against average. As a team, the Generals ranked 12th nationally in GAA and 15th in shutout percentage (.667).
W&L ended the 2013 campaign with a 17-3-1 overall record and an 11-1 conference mark after falling to Lynchburg, 2-0, in the ODAC Tournament championship match.
