W&L Women's Soccer Falls to Lynchburg, 2-0, in ODAC Championship
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team fell to Lynchburg, 2-0, in the ODAC Tournament Championship match on Saturday afternoon. The Generals fell to 17-3-1 overall, while the Hornets improved to 21-1 on the season.
Lynchburg took a 1-0 lead at the 20:52 mark when Jessie Gonzalez's shot bounced over the head of Generals keeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove). The Hornets added the insurance goal in the 52nd minute when Angela Bosco scored off a Dessi Dupuy assist.
Healy played all 90 minutes in goal for the Generals, finishing with six saves. Tess Frelick registered the shutout for the Hornets.
For the game, LC outshot W&L, 17-1, and held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
For their efforts during the tournament, Senior Alexis Blight (Columbia, Md. / McDonogh) and first-years Ashley Hogan (North Chesterfield, Va. / Monacan) and Hollis Tardy (Dallas, Texas / The Hockaday School) were named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team.
The Generals will now wait to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is set to air on Monday at 1:30 pm.
