SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team cruised to a 10-0 victory over Sweet Briar on Saturday afternoon.
First-years Kathryn Riley (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) and Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) led the offense with their first career hat tricks. Riley scored twice in he first half and added her third tally just 33 seconds into the second half. Jessee netted two unassisted tallies in the first half and scored her third goal off a Riley assist in the 51st minute.
Junior Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) also netted a goal at the 15:30 mark, while sophomore Becca Dunn (Houston, Texas/Memorial) hit the back of the net in the 26th minute. Junior Meghan Latella (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) notched her second goal of the season with a tally at the 61:52 mark. First-year Camille LeJeune (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) finished the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 89:13 mark.
Junior midfielder Katie Rossi directed the offense, finishing with five assists which set a new program record for assists in a game. First-year Katie Pettit (San Diego, Calif./Scrips Ranch) and Jessee also dished out an assist.
Senior Kingsley Schroeder played all 90 minutes in goal and made on save. For the game, the Generals outshot the Vixens 24-1 and held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, playing host to Shenandoah for a 4:00 pm contest.
