W&L Women's Soccer Defeats E&H, 2-0

LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 25 Washington and Lee women's soccer team took advantage of a goal in each half to defeat Emory & Henry, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.

With the win, the Generals moved to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in ODAC play, while the Wasps fell to 2-10-1 and 2-4-1 in the conference. The Blue and White are just one win away from tying the program's record for most consecutive wins (10) that was set during the 1997 season.

Junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) netted the first goal of the game with an unassisted tally at the 35:28 mark. The Generals had two more chances to score before halftime, but E&H goalie Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) made both saves.

In the 83rd minute, junior midfielder Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) scored the insurance goal off a Becca Dunn assist (Houston, Texas/Memorial) that gave the Generals the 2-0 victory.

Senior Kingsley Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio/Westminster School/Miami Valley) picked up the win in goal, finishing with one save. Sophomore Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) played the first 20:30 in goal and made two saves. Jerome suffered the loss, but kept the Generals from increasing their lead by making a season high 12 saves.

For the game, W&L outshot E&H, 29-4, and held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Generals will return to action on Sunday when they host Salisbury for a 2:00 pm contest.
