LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team increased its winning streak in conference action to three with a 1-0 win over Roanoke Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field. With the victory, W&L improved to 7-1 (3-0 ODAC) on the season and Roanoke fell to 2-5-1 (0-1) overall.
At the 62:54 mark, junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) dribbled her way through the Roanoke defense and netted the go-ahead goal. Sophomore keeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) helped secure the win with three key saves in the remaining 27 minutes.
Healy picked up her fourth consecutive shutout and registered six total saves while spending 90 minutes in the goal. Junior Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) suffered the loss, finishing with five saves.
The Generals held an advantage over the Maroons in both total shots and corner kicks, earning a 14-11 lead in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 6:00 pm contest.
