W&L Women's Soccer Flies Past Randolph-Macon, 4-0
LEXINGTON, Va. – Sophomore forward Becca Dunn (Houston, Texas/Memorial) notched two goals to lead the Generals to a 4-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the ODAC, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-4 and 1-2 in conference play.
In the seventh minute, first-year forward Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) scored the Generals' first goal of the contest, giving W&L a 1-0 lead. The Generals struck again at the 14:38 mark when junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) scored off a Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) assist.
Dunn capped the first-half scoring with her first goal of the game off a Beasley assist with just 21 seconds left to play to give W&L a 3-0 advantage at the half. Dunn then registered the fourth goal of the game at the 74:57 mark to secure the 4-0 win.
In net for the Blue and White was sophomore Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove), who stopped one shot while playing the entire game. Sophomore Elizabeth Blanco (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) tallied five saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets.
The Generals return to action on September 24th, when they play host to Roanoke. The match is set to start at 4:00 pm.
