LEXINGTON, Va. – Six different members of the Washington and Lee women's soccer team notched a goal in a 7-1 defeat over Southern Virginia Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.

Junior forward Jasmine Soo (Charleston, W.Va./Culver Academies) used a deflected pass in the 10th minute to put the Generals up 1-0 early in the contest. Off a corner kick from senior midfielder Ainsley Daigle (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana), senior defender Alex Todd (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman School) headed the second goal of the game into the net, giving W&L a 2-0 lead at the 17:10 mark.

The Generals continued to increase their lead to three as Soo scored her second goal of the game in the 33rd minute. To close out the half, first-year midfielder Erin Harvey knocked in a loose ball, allowing W&L to go into the break with a 4-0 advantage.

Daigle picked up her second assist off a corner kick at 65:32 as junior midfielder Alexis Blight (Columbia, Md./McDonough) found the back of the net and put W&L up 5-0.  SVU saw its first chance for a comeback in the 67th minute when sophomore forward Lora Palmer (Alpine, Utah/Lone Peak) broke free from two defenders and registered the Knights' first goal of the game (5-1).

Sophomore forward Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash./Federal Way) collected her first career goal as a General at 74:00 after sophomore midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) quickly handed off the ball to an open Ward (6-1). Late in the 87th minute, Beasley passed off another ball to sophomore midfielder Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) giving the Generals' their seventh goal of the contest. SVU was not able to make up its deficit as W&L opened its 2012 campaign with the 7-1 win.

Splitting time in net for the Generals was first-year Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) and junior Kingsley Schroeder (Dayton, Ohio/Westminster School). Healy did not face any shots in the first half and registered no goals-against, while Schroeder recorded one goal-against in the second 45:00.
