W&L's Lawson An NSCAA First Team All-America Selection

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Washington and Lee senior women's soccer player senior Kat Lawson (White Post, Va./Clarke County) has been selected to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Women's Division III All-America Team announced on December 9.

This is the second time Lawson, a defender, is being honored as a First Team All-American. In 2009, Lawson became the first-ever First Team All-American selection for the Generals when she was honored by the NSCAA.

During the 2011 season, Lawson was the only General to play in, and start, all 19 matches. She was an integral member of a W&L defense that was second in the ODAC for goals against average (0.37) and number of shutouts (15).

For her career, Lawson started all 59 contests in three years, after transferring from Colgate. She registered one goal and two assists and helped senior goalkeeper Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/King's) set a record for shutouts with 37.

The Generals finished the season with a 13-4-2 (7-2-2 ODAC) overall record advancing to the ODAC semifinals where they lost to the eventual conference champion Lynchburg, 1-0.
