FERRUM, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) recently announced its 2010 College Division All-State women's soccer team, and junior defender Kat Lawson (White Post, Va./Clarke County) was named to the second team.
Lawson earned Second Team VaSID honors for the second-consecutive season. She started all 18 games for the Generals' backfield in 2010, helping W&L post 10 shutouts and a 0.64 goals-against average, the second-best margin in the ODAC. She also finished her junior campaign with one assist, which she recorded in the regular-season finale at Randolph (10/26). Lawson garnered Second Team All-ODAC honors earlier this season after taking home first team accolades last year.
Lynchburg College made a clean sweep of the top honors, with senior forward Betsy Kwiatkowski earning Player of the Year honors, first-year defender Tori Dott honored as Rookie of the Year, and Dr. Todd Olson named Coach of the Year.
W&L concluded its 2010 campaign with a 10-6-2 overall record, and advanced to the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament before falling to Lynchburg College.
