W&L Women's Soccer's Season Ends With 3-0 Loss to LC

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg College's Brittany Klippstein notched a second-half hat trick as the Hornets knocked off the Washington and Lee women's soccer team, 3-0, in the semifinal round of the ODAC Championships on Tuesday evening at Shellenberger Field.

After neither team mustered a goal in the first 45 minutes of play, Klippstein began her scoring barrage in the 56th minute when she took a pass from Betsy Kwiatkowski and beat W&L (10-6-2) junior goalkeeper Emily Leary (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) to give LC (17-2-1) a 1-0 lead.
Klippstein made it a 2-0 lead at the 63:50 mark when she scored off a free kick and she completed the hat trick at 74:31 when she put cross from Katie Santos into the back of the net for the final 3-0 margin.
W&L was outshot 18-4 on the game, including 9-0 in the second half, and the Hornets had five corner kicks to the Generals' one.
Leary played all 90:00 in goal for the Generals and made six saves in the losing effort.
Lynchburg's Jackie Bader also played the duration in net and made three saves, all in the first half.
With the loss, the Generals have concluded their 2010 season, while the Hornets advance to the ODAC Championship game to take on Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.
