LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team netted a goal in both halves as it defeated Sweet Briar, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Sophomore defender Alex Todd (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman) put the Generals (4-3, 3-1 ODAC) on the board in the 32nd minute with an unassisted marker. Sophomore forward Bess Ruff (Tupelo, Miss./Tupelo) secured the 2-0 victory for W&L when she recorded an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute.
For the game, the Generals outshot the Vixens (4-7, 0-5 ODAC), 31-0, and had a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.
Senior keeper Taylor Joosten (Chicago, Ill./Ignatius College Prep) played all 90:00 for the Generals and did not face a shot. SBC junior keeper Seanne Weekes (Los Gatos, Calif.) also played the duration, stopping 18 shots.
The Generals return to action tomorrow as they travel to N.C. Wesleyan for a noon contest.
