
LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee sophomores Heather
Deisher (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Cape Central) and Allie Espina
(Gaithersburg, Md./Good Counsel) have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III Women's
Soccer team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors
of America (CoSIDA). Both Deisher and Espina were third team
honorees.
A biology major, Deisher was recognized as a W&L and ODAC
Scholar-Athlete last year during her first season with the
Generals. She is a member of the Generals’ defense that
has allowed just 0.44 goals per game this season, including posting
14 shutouts.
Espina, also a biology major, received W&L and ODAC
Scholar-Athlete honors last season as a first-year. She currently
leads the team in scoring this fall with 24 points on 11 goals and
two assists. Espina also finished third on the team in scoring last
season, recording 10 goals and three assists.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states
that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter
or important reserve, and claim a GPA of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0
scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, which
includes players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina,
South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
