LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee women’s soccer
coach Neil Cunningham was named the 2009 D-III South Atlantic
Region Coach of the Year as recognized by the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
This is the third time Cunningham has received the recognition, which automatically named him a finalist for National Coach of the Year. He was also honored during the 2002 and 2006 seasons.
Cunningham was named the 2009 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) coach of the year as he led the W&L women’s soccer team to a 17-2-3 record, claiming the third ODAC conference championship in program history while advancing to the second round of the NCAA D-III women’s soccer tournament. In nine seasons at W&L, Cunningham has posted a 133-27-19 (.796) overall record while claiming three ODAC conference championships and five NCAA D-III soccer tournament appearances.
