W&L Women's Soccer Defeats Randolph, 9-0

LEXINGTON, Va.-The Washington and Lee women’s soccer team recorded three-multiple goal performances as they went on to defeat Randolph, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.

Sophomore forwards Anne Masich (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton) and Allie Espina (Gaithersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and first-year midfielder Katie Howard (Atherton, Calif./Menlo School) all recorded two goals in the Generals’ (8-1, 6-0 ODAC) victory. Masich would record two unassisted markers in the 14th and 67th minute, Espina recorded back-to-back goals in the 31st and 54th minutes while Howard recorded both of her goals in the second half, one in the 63rd minute and the other in the 71st minute.

The Generals also received first-time goals from sophomore defender Kat Lawson (White Post, Va./Clarke County) in the 9th minute and first-year Bess Ruff (Tupelo, Miss./Tupelo) in the 83rd minute. Senior midfielder Roz Klann added the final marker for the Generals in the 14th minute.

Junior goalie Taylor Joosten (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) played all 90 minutes in net, recording one save en route to the shutout. Randolph (3-7, 0-4 ODAC) junior goalie Victoria Johnson (Hartfield, Va./Middlesex) also played the duration, allowing nine goals while recording 16 saves.

The Generals will travel to Eastern Mennonite for a 4:00 pm match on Wednesday.
