W&L Women's Soccer Falls to No. 1 Messiah, 5-0
GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Washington and Lee women’s
soccer team fell to No. 1 Messiah College, 5-0, Saturday afternoon
at Shoemaker Field.
After a scoreless first half, Messiah (8-0-1) went on to record
five unanswered goals in the second half, including two from senior
forward Amy Horst to claim the victory.
Generals (5-1, 3-0 ODAC) sophomore goalie Emily Leary (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Kings) played all 90 minutes in net, allowing five goals while
recording four saves. Messiah goalies Autumn Reilly and
Shalisa Brubaker shared time in net, with Reilly recording one save
and getting credit for the win.
The Generals will return to action Wednesday as they travel to
Roanoke for a 7:00 pm contest.
