The Washington and Lee wrestling team knocked off a pair of Centennial Conference opponents on Saturday, including producing its first win over Ursinus since the 2006-07 campaign. The Generals downed Muhlenberg by a score of 27-12 and then posted a 22-20 victory over the Bears in matches contested at Johns Hopkins.
The Washington and Lee wrestling team went 1-1 on Sunday in a tri-match hosted by Johns Hopkins. The Generals fell to the Blue Jays, 25-13, in a Centennial Conference match, and then defeated Penn College Tech, 32-12, in a non-conference contest.
The Washington and Lee wrestling team recorded three individual champions and finished second out of nine teams as it hosted the annual Jim Crytzer Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Warner Center.
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 253 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 242 set last fall.
The Washington and Lee wrestling team posted a 3-1 overall record as it hosted the W&L Duals on Monday at the Warner Center. The Generals defeated King’s (37-13), Trine (21-19) and Greensboro (27-15), and fell to Lycoming (24-9).
