Three Generals Earn IWLCA All-America Honors

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2017 Division III All-America teams on Friday and Washington and Lee had three players recognized.

Senior attacker Hayley Soutter (McLean, Va. / Langley) and sophomore midfielder Haley Tucker (Manakin-Sabot, Va. / St. Catherine's) earned first team honors, while senior defender Parker Hamill (Darien, Conn. / Darien) garnered third team accolades. 

This is the first time since 2008 that the Generals have had three players earn All-America honors. Kat Michaels '08 and Sarah Tilbor '08 earned first team accolades, while Kelsi Robinson '09 was named to the third team during the 2008 campaign.

The ODAC Player of the Year and first team all-conference honoree, Soutter has started all 18 games for the Generals. A team captain this season, she leads the team with 35 goals and 48 points. Additionally, Soutter has registered 13 assists, 20 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and seven draw controls. She earned first team all-region honors earlier this season.

A two-time First Team All-ODAC honoree and team captain, Hamill has played a major role for the W&L defense that ranks second in Division III with a 3.89 goals-against average and has held opponents to single-digit goal totals in 17 contests. She has also posted 23 ground balls, caused 10 turnovers and won three draw controls. Hamill also earned first team all-region honors earlier this season.

Tucker is a two-time first team all-conference selection and earned first team all-region honors this season, after posting a team-high 93 draw controls. She also recorded 45 points on 34 goals and 11 assists. Additionally, she has picked up 21 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers. Tucker earned ODAC Rookie of the Year and second team all-region accolades last season.

The second-ranked Generals are currently 17-1 overall and will host the regional rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Sixth-ranked William Smith and Colorado College will square off at 11:30 am on Saturday, while W&L will face 13th-ranked Catholic at 2:30 pm. The winners of Saturday's games will meet on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
