LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team posted an opening round score of 315 and sits in second-place out of 12 teams after the first day of competition at the General's Invitational hosted by W&L at the Lexington Golf & Country Club on Monday.
Methodist leads after the opening round after carding a +23 score of 311. The Generals notched a 315 (+27) and Centre sits in third, four strokes back at 319 (+31).
A trio of players sit atop the leaderboard after firing a +1 score of 73 on Monday. Methodist's Lauren Ceyrolles and Johnna Beehner both tallied 73, as did Bridgewater's Christina Herbert.
The top General is first-year Hannah Jones (Atlanta, Ga. / Blessed Trinity), who is one stroke back of the leaders in fourth-place with a 74 (+2). Senior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) posted a 78 (+6) and is tied for eighth out of 71 golfers, while sophomore Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) is 14th after carding an 81 (+9).
Senior Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) registered a +10 score of 82 to tie for 15th, while first-year Beth Ann Townsend (Greenville, N.C. / Travelers Rest) shot an 84 (+12) and is tied for 21st. Senior Dana Droz (Lancaster, Pa. / Veritas Academy) and first-year Hannah Wright (Thompsons Station, Tenn. / Battle Ground Academy) wrapped up the W&L contingent in the field. Both are tied for 26th after recording an 86 (+14).
