W&L Women's Golf Sits in Second-Place After Day One at ODACs

NELLYSFORD, Va. – The 17th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team shot a season-high total of 344 (+56) on Sunday and is in second-place out of four teams at the ODAC Championship held at the Wintergreen Resort.

Bridgewater leads the competition after the first day with a +40 score of 328.  Randolph-Macon is third with a 347 (+59).  Bridgewater's Christina Herbert is the individual leader after she carded an even-par score of 72.

The Generals are playing without junior Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), who is out with an injury. 

Junior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) was the top individual for W&L on Sunday.  She is in second-place out of 30 competitors with a 79 (+7).  Senior Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) is tied for ninth after shooting 87 (+15) and junior Dana Droz (Lancaster, Pa. / Veritas Academy) is 11th with an 88 (+16).  First-years Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) and Caroline Buckley (Duxbury, Mass. / Notre Dame Academy) both fired a 90 (+18) and are tied for 14th overall.

Teams also played a partial second round on Sunday and will look to finish that round on Monday morning.  However, the weather forecast calls for significant rainfall.
