W&L Women's Golf Sits in Second Place at the Callaway Golf Spring Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 18th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team shot a season-low score of 309 (+21) on Monday and is in second-place out of 12 teams at the Callaway Golf Spring Invitational held at the Bryan Park Players Course.

W&L trails only 14th-ranked Methodist, which shot a 308 (+20) on Monday to lead by one stroke.  Oglethorpe, ranked 31st overall, is third with a +22 score of 310, while 11th-ranked Berry is fourth with a 313 (+25).

Individually, Methodist's Johnna Beehner and Oglethorpe's Mara Tiger lead the event, as both finished the opening round with an even-par 72.

W&L junior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) is third with +2 score of 74, while classmate Liza Freed (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) is tied for fourth with a 75 (+3).

First-year Griffin Foultz (San Antonio, Texas / St. Mary's Hall) is tied for 11th out of the 63 golfers in the field after shooting a 79 (+7) and junior Dana Droz (Lancaster, Pa. / Veritas Academy) is tied for 20th with an 81 (+9).  First-year Caroline Buckley (Duxbury, Mass. / Notre Dame Academy) sits in a tie for 28th after carding an 83 (+11) and senior Katelyn Degnan (Saint Petersburg, Fla. / Canterbury School) is 48th while playing as an individual.  She shot a 92 (+20) on Monday.

The Generals will be back in action on Tuesday morning with the final round from Bryan Park.
