
DRAPER, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's golf team finished eighth out of eight teams at the all-Division I Highlander Invitational hosted by Radford University on Sunday at the Draper Valley Golf Club.
Gardner-Webb took the team competition after carding a two-round score of 303-296—599. Winthrop was second (307-301—608), followed by Radford (307-305—612), Wofford (315-306—621), High Point (318-306—624), Delaware State (328-335—663), Mount St. Mary's (341-342—683) and the Generals (367-369—736).
Winthrop's Meagan Wallace took the individual title after posting a score of 71-74—145 (+1).
First-year Rachael Wright (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) was the top individual finisher for W&L, placing 33rd overall with a score of 81-87—168. Classmate Sara Moir (Roanoke, Va./Hidden Valley) tied for 39th after shooting 88-85—173, while first-year Lydia Barit (Paget, Bermuda/Middlesex School) placed 47th with a score of 98-94—192. First-year Nicole Kasica (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford) finished 48th overall with a 100-103—203.
Washington and Lee returns to action on October 1-2 as it hosts the Generals Invitational at the Lexington Golf & Country Club.
