W&L's Perszyk Earns Women's Basketball All-State Honors

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2016-17 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Teams on Thursday afternoon, and junior guard Emily Perszyk (Greendale, Wis. / Greendale) earned Second Team All-State accolades.

Perszyk is the first W&L player to earn a spot on one of the all-state teams since Jessica Hunsinger ’07 was named to the second team in the 2005-06 season. However, Meg Ingram ’12 earned VaSID Rookie of the Year honors for the 2008-09 campaign.

Perszyk appeared in 23 games and started 21 contests for the Generals. She averaged 19.4 points per game and shot 38.0 percent (41-108) from behind the arc, both of which ranked fourth in the ODAC. Perszyk also ranked first in free throw percentage at 90.4 percent (110-122), which was the sixth-best mark in Division III. She scored in double figures in 22 games, including a career-high 37 points against Randolph-Macon in January.

Earlier this season, Perszyk earned First Team All-ODAC honors, which was the first time W&L had a player named to first team since Becca Bolton ’12 earned the honor in 2012.

Washington and Lee finished the 2016-17 campaign with a 12-14 record and a 7-9 mark in conference play.
