NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior guard Meg Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) sank two shots from the line with nine seconds to play to give the Washington and Lee women's basketball team a 51-50 victory over Christopher Newport on Monday night at the Freeman Center.

After trailing for all of the first half, a jumper by senior forward Becca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) gave the Generals their first lead (28-27) with 15:41 left in regulation. Seven lead changes and four ties highlighted the second half, including an 11-4 Generals run allowing W&L to pull ahead by six points (37-31) at 10:29.

A triple from Ingram put W&L back up a pair (42-40) at the 6:59 mark before the Captains scored eight-straight points to assume the aforementioned 48-42 lead and set up the game's final minutes.
A jumper by Mitchell began the game (2-0) and launched the Captains on a 20-8 game-opening scoring run. Junior guard Katy Wilson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) started a nine-point unanswered streak for the Generals at the 9:19 mark (22-13), cutting the CNU lead to four (22-18).
