FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee junior forward Becca Bolton (Pittsboro, N.C./Chatham Central) was tabbed as the ODAC women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending on January 23.
Bolton helped lead the Generals to a 2-0 week, defeating Southern Virginia University, 76-56, on Tuesday and Eastern Mennonite, 67-61, on Saturday. She led W&L in scoring for both contests, registering a season-high 26 points while going 11-for-14 from the field and contributing a season-high eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals against SVU. Against EMU, she scored 23 points and added eight boards and four steals.
Bolton's back-to-back 20-point performances were the first for W&L this season, and first since last season when she accomplished the feat in games against Christopher Newport and Hollins.
This season, Bolton is second on the team with an average of 15.0 points per game. She also ranks second with 7.1 rebounds per game and third in shooting percentage (51-109, .468) in nine contests after missing the first six games of the season while studying off-campus.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:00 pm contest.
