Riding hosts ODAC Championships
HOLLINS, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team competed in the 2009 Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship on Friday afternoon at the Hollins University Riding Center sponsored by Dover Saddlery. The Generals finished in fifth place with nine points. Sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) and first-year Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District Mid-Senior) were tabbed to the all-conference team.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee Riding team was in action at the 10th Annual Virginia Intermont Classic Collegiate Cup on Saturday evening at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va.
The white team of senior Kate Corr (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional), sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) and first-year Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District Mid-Senior) finished second out of 13 teams, while the blue team of senior Sarah Bujtas (Mount Tabor, N.J./Parsippany Hills), junior Emily Coyle (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) and first-year Catherine Skitsko (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) placed sixth out of 13 squads.
Individually, Lemon paced the Generals' white team with a first-place mark in the intermediate flat, while Corr recorded a second-place finish in the novice fences. Morse also finished third in the open flat.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Fri. Apr., 10 at the ODAC Championships at Hollins University in Hollins, Va.

The Generals finished ninth out of 10 teams and had two individuals garner fifth-place ribbons. Senior Yuji Huang (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) recorded a fifth-place finish in the walk-trot, while sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) finished fifth in the over fences. First-year Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District Mid-Senior) paced the Generals with a second-place finish in the open flat, while junior Anna Burnett (New Kent, Va./New Kent) placed third in the walk-trot-canter event. Morse and sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) both tied for fourth-place in the open fences.

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Washington and Lee riding team placed in six classes to notch an eighth-place mark at the Sweet Briar Invitational on Sunday.The Generals were led by sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) and senior Yuji Huang (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill), who both recorded third-place finishes. Lemon placed third in open fences, while Huang finished third in the walk-trot.

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team opened up the 2009 campaign with a fourth-place tie with Randolph College at the Randolph IHSA on Friday.
The Generals placed in six classes, including five Top 3
placings. Additionally, the Blue and White garnered two blue
ribbons.

W&L, finishing first in the intermediate fences and fourth in

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Washington and Lee riding team placed in seven classes to notch an eighth-place finish at the Bridgewater IHSA over the weekend.
Sophomore Allison Lemon (Roanoke, Va./North Cross School) paced the Generals as she recorded fourth-place finishes in both the open fences and intermediate flat. With her performance in the intermediate flat, she qualified for the IHSA Regional Championships. Also, senior Sarah Bujtas (Mount Tabor, N.J./Parsippany Hills) placed fourth in the open flat and fifth in the open fences and currently resides in fourth place in the race for the prestigious Cacchione Cup, which is presented to the rider with the region’s highest point total.
W&L will now break for the winter before returning to action on Feb. 6 at the Randolph Invitational.
