W&L Equestrian Competes at Collegiate Cup
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee equestrian team competed at the Virginia Intermont Classic/Collegiate Cup on Saturday, hosted by the Virginia Horse Center.
The "George" team placed fourth out of eight teams competing, while team "Bob" placed sixth. The Generals' "George" team featured senior captain Claire Stevenson (Southampton, N.Y. / St. Paul's School), sophomore Laura Lemon (Roanoke, Va. / North Cross) and junior Charlotte Magee (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin), and team "Bob" consisted of senior captain Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash. / Lakeside School), first-year Caleigh Wells (Calabasas, Calif. / Louisville), and first-year Laurel Romano (Milford, Ohio / Saint Ursula Academy).
Magee won the High Point award for her finish in the novice equitation on the flat, recording 82 total points. Lemon took second place honors in the intermediate equitation on the flat, collecting 81 points.
Stevenson rounded out the results, earning fourth-place honors with 77 points in the open equitation on the flat event.
The Generals are back in action today for day two of the Collegiate Cup.
