W&L Equestrian Finishes in Sixth Place at UVA Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Washington and Lee equestrian team recorded four Top 5 finishes en route to posting 13 points for a sixth-place finish at the UVA IHSA Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

First-year Caleigh Wells (Calabasas, Calif. / Louisville) led the Generals with a second-place finish in the intermediate over fences division, while senior Alexandria Vittitow (Louisville, Ky. / Sacred Heart Academy) placed fourth in the walk-trot event.

Both first-year Laurel Romano (Milford, Ohio / Saint Ursula Academy) and sophomore Laura Lemon (Roanoke, Va. / North Cross) recorded a Top 5 finish in their respective events. Romano placed fifth in the novice over fences event and Lemon posted a fifth-place finish in the open on the flat.

Senior Claire Stevenson (Southampton, N.Y. / St. Paul's School) rounded out the results with a sixth-place finish in the open over fences event.

The Generals will be back in action on Thursday for the Collegiate Cup/Virginia Intermont Classic.
