W&L Riding Takes Sixth at Bridewater Invitational
WEYERS CAVE, Va. - The Washington and Lee riding team finished sixth, posting 20 points at the Bridgewater IHSA Invitational on Saturday at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.
Hollins took home the team championship with 35 points, and host Bridgewater earned Reserve Champion with 30 points. UVA (28), Randolph (27), Sweet Briar (27) and Lynchburg (24) rounded out the top five.
Senior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) led the Generals with two Top-three finishes, including second in open flat equitation and third in open over fences. With these performances, Morse sits first in the Cacchione Cup Individual Rider standings.
First year Charlotte Keesler (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) finished third in the intermediate flat with sophomore Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Hanford) landing next in fourth place. First year Juli Sorenson (Spring Valley, Calif./Grossmont) wrapped up the Generals' marks with a fifth place finish in the novice flat.
The Generals return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hollins for the Hollins IHSA Invitational. Qualified athletes will then compete at the IHSA Regionals at University of Virginia on Sunday.
