W&L Riding Opens Spring Season at RC/LC IHSA Invitational
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Washington and Lee rider senior Tamara Morse (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) led W&L as she finished first in the open flat at the Randolph/Lynchburg IHSA Invitational held at the Randolph College Riding Center on Friday.
As a team, the Generals finished in sixth place out of 12 teams with 16 points. Bridgewater and Lynchburg tied for the team title with 28 points. Hollins finished a close second with 27 points. Randolph was fourth with 23 points and Sweet Briar finished fifth with 17 points.
Six Generals placed in the top-five in their respective event. Junior Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) took third in the open flat, sophomore Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) was fourth in the intermediate over fences, and senior Camille Cobb (Huntersville, N.C./Harding University) finished fourth in the walk-trot.
First year Charlotte Keesler (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) placed fifth in the intermediate over fences, first year Juli Sorenson (Spring Valley, Calif./Grossmont) was fifth in novice flat, and first year Sarah Ward (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) finished fifth in the walk-trot-canter.
