W&L Riding Takes Reserve Champion at Sweet Briar Invitational
SWEET BRIAR - The Washington and Lee riding team tied Hollins for reserve champion with 27 points at the Sweet Briar IHSA Invitational at the Rogers Riding Center on Sunday afternoon.
Bridgewater was named the champion, recording 32 points as a team.
Senior Tamara Morse led the Generals with her first place in section B of the open over fences and fourth in open flat.
Three W&L riders took second place in their respective event. Junior Gina Bufton (Preston, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) was runner-up in novice over fences, first year Sarah Ward (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) in the walk-trot-canter and senior Camille Cobb (Huntersville, N.C./Harding University) placed second in the walk-trot.
Junior Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) finished fourth in section A of the open flat. Three Generals placed sixth with Rountree in intermediate over fences, sophomore Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) in intermediate flat, and first year Juli Soreson (Spring Valley, Calif./Grossmont) in novice flat.
W&L returns to action on February 11 at the Bridgewater Invitational.
