LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team placed in seven of nine events as it finished seventh out of 11 teams at the Randolph College Invitational on Friday evening in Lynchburg.
Lynchburg College caputured the team title with 37 points, followed by Hollins (35), Bridgewater (30), Sweet Briar (26) and Randolph (21) in the top five. Rounding out the competitors were James Madison (20), W&L (14), UVA (12), Radford (11), Longwood (7) and Roanoke (7).
Top finishers for the Generals were junior Molly Rountree (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy) and sophomore Maia Robbins (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School). Rountree finished third in the open equitation on the flat and fourth in the intermediate equitation over fences, while Robbins took third in the intermediate equitation over fences and fourth in the intermediate equitation flat.
Also placing for W&L was Sarah Ward (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby) in the advanced walk-trot-canter (6th), Caroline Wass (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) in the beginner walk-trot-canter (5th) and senior Camille Cobb (Huntersville, N.C./Harding University) in the walk-trot (5th).
W&L next competes on October 29, taking part in the Bridgewater Invitational.
